Mucous Cysts Diagnosis and Treatment in Houston, TX

Associated with osteoarthritis, mucous cysts are most common in patients between 50 and 70 years of age. These fluid-filled sacs form on the fingers between the nail and the finger's top joint. Mucous cysts are not harmful and often cause no pain, so treatment is not always necessary. In cases where the cysts cause excessive pain or bother the patient from a cosmetic standpoint, they may be treated surgically.
